Are you sure a shiortened capo was used? You can acheive the exact same E chord tone of your fingerings by using a full capo at the 2nd fret, and dropping both the first and sixth strings two steps(both down to D, then capo'd back to E...) and leaving the first string open, and onmly fretting the 2nd string, 3rd fret, and 3rd string, 2nd fret, all frets relative to the capo)regular D shape, minus the first string). You can also easily make that dimished chord by moving the 3rd fret, 2nd string back one to the 2nd fret as you do on a "e" part(in between cel and brate)
The A chord is now played 1st string, 5 frets up from the capo, 2nd string, 3rd fret(again, relative to the capo) and 6th string, 5 frets up, muting the 5th string. A person could also simply fret the 1st and 6th strings 5 frets up and mute the 5th string, but I like the sound of the 2nd string, 3rd fret in there.
The B chord is done by playing a hillbilly A chord shape, where you fret 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th strings, 2nd fret.
